"Petey Goes to School"

My first day of school. I had no idea what to expect. My coat was clean and brushed. I was looking my best. I ate my breakfast. I was ready to go.

I got into the car. The ride was further than when I go to the park for my morning walk. I knew immediately that I was not headed to the park, due to the road my Master drove. I am smart; I know when we are not heading in the right direction.

I really had no idea where I was going. I made grunting sounds angrily and impatiently to let my Master know I was unhappy that we weren't going to the park.

I arrived at a school and I was scared. I had been here once for an evaluation to see if I could be a good fit for doggy daycare. I must have passed because I am back. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be here or not, or how long my stay would be.

I barked loudly as I walked into the school. A lovely lady came and got me, and my Master watched her leave with me. I looked back, not knowing what was happening or where I was going. Why was my Master letting me go?

I was led into a room. There were many other dogs. All were my size. I saw a mini poodle, a small doodle, and other small dogs. I don't know what they were. They were not miniature schnauzers like me. I was a little nervous, so I sniffed around, exploring the place. I stuck to myself. I am very energetic, so I'm not sure if the other dogs knew how to handle me.

We suddenly lined up at the door. Yeah, we are going outside. I followed the leader. They seemed to know the ropes and what was going on. All this was new to me. We played outside, and I sniffed some more, ran around in circles.

I soon no longer felt as nervous. I greeted other dogs, and I was nice to everyone. At times, we all dogs wanted individual attention from the human. I got lucky and was held for a short time, then I had to go back to playing with the others. It's not so bad here. Even fun, where I learn and work on my social skills and separation anxiety.  I get to meet new friends.

Later in the day, a man came in. He had my collar and leash. I got excited and jumped around. YEAH, this means I am going home. I know my leash. My Master must be here to pick me up. I was led out to the main lobby. There was my Master. She got a good report on my behavior and was pleased that I did well in group play.

Doggy Daycare wore me out. When I got home, I just lay with my toys, as I was too exhausted to play. Next time I go to doggy daycare, I won't be so scared and nervous. I will know what to expect and that my Master will be back to pick me up.
